Dealer says abs control unit and transmission failure. Big problem with this car. The vehicle constantly does a bunny hop in heavy stop and go traffic which almost caused me to rear end another car because of the sudden surge of acceleration. Felt as if you were starting in 2nd gear, just no acceleration when you step on the gas. This exact repair was done under warranty previously.
Waiting a new box 162500 km Nissan Romania approved a 100% financing of the broken transmission although there is no more warranty for a long time. Repeat this step for each transmitter including any existing transmitters. The transfer case is leaking and will need to have a seal replaced. This is a significant safety issue and I feel that Nissan should be held responsible for correcting this problem on all affected vehicles! Also the bell housing is different. If you look into these complaints you can see the cvt transmission is a safety hazzard and should be recalled for life of the vehicle!.
New part ordered and replaced. Transmission not shifting properly causing the car to be sluggish. I could smell transmission fluid starting to 'cook', and my car would lose power rapidly. Brought back in right before 100,000 miles and Nissan replaced at no cost. I have been doing research and found out that there was a extension on the warranty that I did not know about and was never told by Nissan. Please take the time to file your complaints, otherwise nothing will be done! We had been telling the Elk Grove Nissan dealer we were getting surging while still under dealer warranty for 15,000 miles!! Did not fix the problem.
My suggestion is dump your Murano while it still works because there is no economical fix for this inevitable failure. This is a very dangerous and scary problem esp when merging from highway to highway. Every time we start the vehicle makes a horrible whinning noise. I've had minor problems before, and it even completely died on me and had to be towed I guess I need to lookup that problem and report it too. It is a known issue with this vehicle's cvt transmission failing! Some had problems with in the first thousand miles.
This is a huge mistake on their part, and to keep bragging about how awesome their Nissan transmissions are. Replaced transfer case under power train warranty. Part 1: Filthy Rich will show you every step in the process as he does this 3. Remove screws of fender protector. The first time the car stoped in the middle of the highway and it would not accelerate. So finally I take it again and they tell me I need a new transmission. A circuit that monitors the transmission will set a code if the transmission overheats, is subjected to unusual loads or internal problems.
I bought my Murano new in 2003. After 1000 miles I am to return to dealer. So we had it towed to woodmen Nissan in colorado springs since we couldn't do anything until that was fixed because the car had no wiring. The resolution to the problem ended up resulting in replacing the entire transmission. You can accomplish this repair job with a few common tools in your driveway and stretch your Nissan maintenance budget.
Then, about two weeks later, I was on the interstate, my engine started making a straining noise, and I began to lose power. As soon as it went in gear, it would not rev or drive. I did not receive an explanation or any compensation for catastrophic problem that seem to of happen only to my family. I think this is a serious problem. Still didn't fix it 100 percent.
I left it sit for about 15 minutes, restarted it, and it miraculously fixed itself. A breaker bar really helped give enough torque to loosen the bolts. I started noticing issues with it at about 90,000 miles. The bad thing is that I really liked the car but the cost and reliability is terrible to say the least. Car ran for two weeks and at 169,000 the car had the same problem.
